Dr. Emily E. Wilson, MSW, PhD is a supervisee in clinical social work who offers mental health counseling to children, adolescents, and adults in Northern Virginia. She approaches each client as an individual, blending approaches that best suit the client’s situation, personality, and goals. There is no formula to solving life’s challenges: Emily utilizes a holistic approach to help people relax, feel heard, and generate ideas for how to move forward. Her approach is deeply informed by psychodynamic theory and rooted in the pragmatism of social work practices. Dr. Wilson’s clients describe her as warm, safe, approachable, calm in the face of crisis, and proactive. Above all else, Dr. Wilson loves to listen and support others through the challenges and joys of life.

  • Talk therapy, including psychodynamic therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other challenges.
  • Play therapy for children with autism, ADHD, behavioral issues, and sudden or traumatic life changes.
  • Mindfulness therapy for individuals with anxiety and depression.
  • Family therapy for families seeking to understand and heal challenging dynamics.
  • Social work advocacy, as appropriate, for children and adolescents who require additional championing at school.
